A review of pubs in shepton

Hello

I will be doing a quick review of the pubs I frequent in shepton mallet (what fun :)

Starting with :

The Thatch

A pub situated right at the end of shepton on the road going to fromeside.

A very pleasent pub, but suits people that like to dine out, it is a great pub for a staging pub when you finish work at 5pm/6pm and most people from work do that and then leave at approx 8pm

It sells a wide range of hardcore booze, but is on the pricy side as a pint of kronenburg/stella costs £2.85

Landlord reminds me of dr who (tom baker) and generally puts up with a loud crowd but has been known to make it clear he does not like swearing in the place.

Next Pub is The Charlton

A working mans pub that does attract the crazy people and sometimes attracts the chavs.

Great for watching football, but a place you sometimes have to watch your mouth or you could get a good kicking

Has speedys donar kebab van outside who has a deal with the landlord and so you can bring in your donar and also your pizzas (if you are lucky they will deliver)

I only ever drink the san miguel (on tap) as the rest of the lagers are pants (carling and fosters for christs sake), the vodka is quite good as is the tequila, pint cost is about £2.75

Next pub up is the Vaults

More of an old persons pub, cannot comment much, but again has crap beer :(

It is ok for a quick visit

The Bell

What can you say about the BELL, he he, a crazy old pub with some crazy patrons, the landlady is very forgiving, although one of her staff was not when a salt in the hair fight broke out :)

Sells a good range of booze and sells stella, again about £2.75 for a pint.

Great for watching football and having a great laugh, on fridays they usually have a band or karoke :)

Stumbles is CHAV CITY

It is ok to go in very early evening or the afternoon, after that the chavs come out and make it a not safe place to visit, has a very loud good juke box though :)

The Dusthole

Well don't bother, has really gone downhill in the last 2 years.

I reckon the Vaults is pretty cool. Beer's pretty good IMHO and the landlord's a Gooner which is very good indeed, of course.

Great spot on a Saturday morning or when you actually want to hear what your fellow drinkers are talking about.

Good "local" atmosphere.

I'm with you - I reckon the Bell's the place to be! Especially on a Worzel's tribute night!
